Highlights in Kreuzlingen at Lake Constance

From St. Margrethen via Kreuzlingen to Schaffhausen, the Rhine Route leads along beautiful cycle paths along Lake Constance. Scenic and enjoyable stops are just as much a part of it as secluded bathing spots for refreshment on warm summer days. The two stages are safe to cycle, mostly flat and therefore also ideal for a bike tour with children.

The apple trail near Altnau at Lake Constance is an educational adventure tour with 24 information panels and various hands-on stations. Warm summer days are best spent in the swimming pool or at one of the many bathing places around Lake Bode. Whether at the Hörnli with its swimming pools, slides, beach volleyball courts, playground and other attractions for bathers, or at a cosy bathing spot by the lake - everyone will find a suitable spot for refreshment in the cool water around Kreuzlingen.

Arenenberg Castle in Salenstein towers mightily over Untersee. Even Napoleon III marvelled at the wonderful view at this imperial site. He spent his childhood and part of his youth here before ascending the great throne in France. Today, the Napoleon Museum in the castle is home to the only German-language museum on Napoleonic history. But the Arenenberg is also a destination on every bucket list because of its blossoming gardens. The hotel and bistro invite you to spend imperial days at Untersee.

Palm trees, oranges and other exotic treasures thrive on Mainau Island in Lake Constance. The park impresses with colourful flowerbeds between March and October. A trip in spring is rewarded with a sea of tulips, in early summer the rhododendrons delight and in summer the roses are worth the trip. For the bright dahlias, a visit in autumn is worthwhile.
