Zur Rebe
The Scherrer family is the oldest Weinfeder vine family. In 1762, David Scherrer purchased the property (today's Gasthaus zur Rebe) in Breitenhard at Bachtobelstrasse 12 in Weinfelden.
Some 300 years and nine generations later, on 26 August 2017, another David Scherrer (son of Melanie and Reto Scherrer) was born in the Breitenhard district of Weinfelden, thus ensuring the tenth generation of the house and vineyard since the purchase in 1762, together with their two daughters Emma and Lisa Scherrer.
The vineyard has always belonged to the house. In earlier years, the wines were pressed in the Remisen cultivation for generations themselves. A fully functional grape press is still located inside the barn. One floor below is the exclusive cellar.
The small amount of bottles "Weinfelder - Haus & Rebland seit 1762 im Familienbesitz" that are still produced every year are very popular and have become a collector's rarity.
Tastings and aperitifs for up to 40 people are possible by appointment and on request also in person with host Reto Scherrer.
