Theater at the border
The Theater an der Grenze in Kreuzlingen is run by the association of the same name and stages 15 to 20 productions a year in the fields of theater, cabaret, music and literature.
The association was founded in 1968 by theater enthusiast Norman Elrod with the intention of putting on professional theater performances. However, the hoped-for audience attendance fell short of expectations, which is why the theater was converted into a guest performance company in 1971.
Initially, the theater was only supported by private patrons; from the 1970s onwards, the town of Kreuzlingen provided a small subsidy, which was later increased and finally topped up by cantonal contributions.
