Steam romance on Lake Constance

The Mittel-Thurgau Railway operates the popular "Mostindien-Express". Every last Sunday from May to October, public steam trains run from Romanshorn; in the morning on the lake line or in the Thur valley and in the afternoon twice to Rorschach and back.

The historical composition, pulled by the MThB steam locomotive Ec 3/5 No. 3, consists of the red saloon carriage, the green luggage/mail carriage and the blue observation carriage, as well as a direct carriage (panorama carriage) to Heiden. Guests board the train and experience the slowness of the old days. All journeys are accompanied by a small catering offer.

The association also has other special trips on its annual programme.

The rolling stock is stationed in the historic locomotive shed (Locorama Romanshorn). The well-known "Thurgauer Zug", an electric shuttle train of the former Mittel-Thurgau-Bahn, with the exclusive Bodan saloon car, is also stationed there. This composition is allowed to run on most standard-gauge railway lines in Switzerland.

The association is happy to organise an individual trip for personal events, whether steam or electric.
