Museum in the Turmhof
The 13th century Turmhof is one of the most striking historical buildings on Untersee. It is the landmark of Steckborn. The Turmhof houses a museum with an exhibition on the culture and history of the Untersee region.
6,000 years of history of Steckborn and its surroundings can be discovered in the museum on three floors, starting with the pile dwellers and from the Romans and Alemanni to modern times. There is a special focus on Steckborn stove building, lace making and the sewing machine museum. There are various special and temporary exhibitions every year.
The museum has a rich collection of Steckborn stove ceramics from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as collections of paintings by Steckborn artists.
