Michael Broger Viticulture

Ottenberg in the Thur valley is one of the wine-growing centres of the canton of Thurgau. Michael Broger Weinbau has been producing wine since 2002 on the small vineyard above Boltshausen on 2.5 hectares of own and leased vineyards.

Out of concern for the soil, the work in steep vineyards is done by hand or with hand-guided caterpillar vehicles. The grapes are pressed directly on the farm and, in the case of red wine, with the juice's own yeast wherever possible. After fermentation, the young wine flows into the farm's own natural cellar without the use of pumps. There it is stored in wooden barrels and, in the rhythm of the seasons, undergoes biological acid degradation and the resting phase until it is ready for bottling. The wines are bottled as naturally as possible and customers are consciously allowed to experience vintage fluctuations.
