Klingenzell
The hamlet of Klingenzell, situated high above Untersee, is appreciated for its famous pilgrimage chapel, but also for the beautiful view.
Klingenzell is home to the Klingenzell pilgrimage church, which is known far beyond the region as a place of pilgrimage, but also for its beautiful location high above Untersee. The idyllic Klingenzellerhof country inn right next door is also very popular.
A 10-minute walk from the chapel takes you to the Hochwacht vantage point, which offers impressive views of the Untersee region. The predestined location of the Hochwacht has been used for centuries to keep a lookout in all directions in case of danger. A concrete bunker is a reminder of the World War II years. The barbecue area and benches are popular with families.
The Klingenzell-Hochwacht circular hiking trail, which is signposted in green from Mammern railroad station, allows you to combine these two points with a hike lasting just under two hours and offering extremely scenic views.
