Guided tour of the old town of Arbon

The public city tour guides guests through the eventful history of the harbour town of Arbon: from the pile dwellers of the Neolithic Age to the extraordinary industrial pioneers of the Saurer family, right up to the present day.

The extremely rich history of Arbon is given a hearing by town leaders. And it's worth listening. As early as the Neolithic period, around 3000 BC, there was a pile-dwelling settlement on what is now Arbon. The Romans came and left behind parts of a city wall, towers and more. Arbon-based Adolph Saurer AG was the most important Swiss manufacturer of lorries for a long time. Participants can learn this and more on the public guided tours through the historic town from mid-June to mid-September on Tuesdays at 10 am and Sundays at 10.30 am. The meeting point is at the Arbon tourist information centre. The tour costs CHF 12.00 for adults and CHF 6.00 for children and lasts around one and a half hours. Tickets can be purchased online or on site.
