Bischofszell Museum and «Schniderbudig» event location

Where wealthy cloth merchants once resided, the Bischofszell Historical Museum now shows in over 20 rooms how Bischofszeller men and women lived for the last 500 years. The Schniderbudig is the place to celebrate.

The Bischofszell Historical Museum welcomes guests in two stately patrician houses from the 18th century. They were once the living quarters of canvas merchants. Today the museum shows how life was lived in Bischofszell from the late Gothic period to the 20th century. In addition to housing culture and town history, there is a collection of ceramics and maps, a drugstore room and a pharmacy just like in the old days. The collection of 19th and 20th century toys will also delight younger visitors. Refreshments with drinks and pastries are available in the coffee room - a bourgeois dining room of the 1920s.

The museum's historic vaulted cellar and the adjoining inner courtyard with its baroque garden and the «Schniderbudig» cottage can be used for celebrations and meetings. More than 400 years ago, the Schniderbudig was a cloth house for the canvas trade. Today it is available for events and offers furniture for up to 70 people as well as a professional kitchen.
